Rules-based play is incredibly important in early developmental years of life because it prepares students for transitioning to formal school life. Students flourish in environments that have boundaries and rules because it gives them a sense of security. During rules-based games students follow and create different rules based on the activity and what they hope to get out of it. Eventually, they will begin to adapt rules to allow for new situations which fosters their problem solving skills.
