The Importance of Play |
Play at Home |
Play is fundamental to child development, since as an activity, it is fundamental to development. Play allows students to explore, learn, and navigate within a learning process. The individual will learn both academically and socially through the use of play-facilitated education. Through play students learn to gain empathy, and understand one another

Outdoor Play
There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing. It is extremely important for students to get outside, get fresh air, and explore. Students should have the opportunity to get snowy, wet, and muddy when outside, as that is a critical aspect to their development, and assists them learn from their surrounding. |

Developing Strong Brain Architecture
Early life experiences determine our later brain architecture, therefore the serve and return theory states that a baby/toddler (brain in the development process) requires play/interaction with their caregiver. The serve and return theory is based on the idea that when a baby/child starts to communicate (facial expressions, sounds, eye contact, talking) they are engaging in the serve. It is then the job of the parent to return by replying through different forms of communication (facial expressions, sounds, eye contact, talking). This process of back-and-forth communication is correlated to strong/healthy brain development (the building blocks) within the early process of brain development. These techniques allow for the child to better deal with stress, conflict, problem solving, and control their emotions. Time Allocated to Devices It is important to acknowledge the positives of devices, and how they can be a tool for assisting students in learning. However, there is an immense amount of research that depicts video games/devices to have a negative affect on the developing child. This is a concern we want to bring light to, but we acknowledge that all situations are different, and it is the duty of the parent to make those informed decisions. |
