Play isn’t the enemy of learning, it’s learning’s partner. Play is like fertilizer for brain growth. It’s not crazy, use it. (Stuart Brown, 2009, pg. 101)
Why Play?
Play is a fundamental part of childhood, and based on experience, it is a highly effective teaching method. Think back to when you were a kid, some of your most memorable moments are probably times when you were making a mess, climbing a tree, and most importantly, learning. Games, inquiry projects, and choices are just some techniques used by teachers to enrich their classrooms. Keep in mind that Play-Facilitated Education is synonymous with inquiry-based, student-lead, and project-based practices.

From The Creators
Madison Dovell (PSIII Intern Teacher)
During my final practicum placement, I had the opportunity to extend my knowledge of Play-Facilitated Education through different professional development opportunities and with the help of my teacher mentor. After becoming slightly overwhelmed with the amount of information available, we decided to create a succinct website as a starting point for fellow teachers and parents. |

Play-Facilitated Education is a philosophy that I have adopted throughout my university career, and used in a variety of forms in my various practicum placements. Play-Facilitated education provides a joyful learning environment, which greatly benefits the learning process. Furthermore, Play-Facilitated Education insures that all learner types are able to achieve success within your classroom. |
